INDEFINITE
ARTICLES
En inglés, sólo tenemos dos
artículos indefinidos A y AN, ambos significan "uno", "una",
EXAMPLE a chair (una silla),
an apple (una manzana).
A → se usa con palabras que empiezan por consonante, h (sonora)
o U (o cualquier otra grafía) pronunciada como /ju:/ (iu).
EXAMPLE
a dog (un perro)
a woman (una mujer)
a hospital (un hospital)
a university (una universidad) → Se pronuncia "a
iuniversiti" y ¡NO¡ an university
a European country (un país europeo) → Aunque empiece
por vocal se utiliza "a" y no "an" porque la grafía
"eu" se pronuncia como "iu" (iuropian) an European
country
AN → se usa con palabras
que empiezan por vocal (a, e, i, o, u), h muda (no se
pronuncia) o u corta (pronunciada como a)
